Reading Challenge Ends Today!

Well, the summer has flown by again, and it's time for the drawing for the 2 $25 gift certificates from the Fertile Mind Bookshop. The drawing will be held at 4:00 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 21, so there is still time to get those last minute entries in the box. Good luck to all the participants.

Summer '06-'08 Combined List Available

A new handout combining the Adult Summer Reading Lists for the past 3 summers is available at the Circulation Desk. If you are new to the area and missed our previous reading challenges, or are just looking for a good list of suggested books to read, stop by and pick one up.

When I get back from vacation, I hope to have two of the books on this year's list checked off and will make some comments about them here. Stay tuned...

Maine Reading Time!

The Summer Reading Lists are ready and available at the main desk and in the display area across from the new books in the YA room. You will also find a copy of the list on our web site. This year, we have gathered all of the books on the list and put them together on the shelves below the display, so it will be easier than ever to choose the books you want to read. Next week, we'll put out the slips so you can start entering the drawing after each book on the list you read.
All comments, book reviews, other reading suggestions or thoughts about the list are welcome here, so let us all know what you think about the books you are reading.

2009 Summer Reading Challenge

The 2009 Summer Reading Challenge has begun. This summer the theme is "Maine Reads." Stop by the circulation desk and pick up the list or print a copy from the library website. Each time you finish a book on the list, fill out a rating slip (also available at the circulation desk) and drop it in the box. On Friday, August 21, we'll draw two slips and award Fertile Mind Bookshop gift certificates to the names on the slips. If you'd like to discuss the books you read with others in the community, share your thoughts here. Just click on the word "Comments" at the bottom of any post and type your comments in the box provided. Click in the circle next to Name/URL and add your name, or be anonymous by clicking in that circle. I'll be adding some comments, links and other information throughout the summer, so check back occasionally to see what's new.
